A common complaint across Colorado is having low-quality internet. My internet service drives me nuts because of the slow speeds, despite the high cost. My situation is like a lot of other Coloradans. At my home, I am only offered one option regarding internet service.
To be honest with you the service is horrible and unreliable.
Thankfully, some relief is coming to Coloradans who are frustrated with their internet service.
Colorado Internet Quality May Improve Soon
Colorado has been working on a broadband plan and it has been approved at the federal level.
The first major component of the $826.5 million plan is to give more Coloradans internet access. 90% of Coloradans have internet access, however, the goal is to ensure that 99% of Coloradans can have internet access.
The government is going to step in and offer affordable and high-quality internet for nearly every single Colorado resident.
BEAD Program and Colorado
Colorado is not the only state planning to offer more affordable, higher quality, and accessible internet. Eight other states have opted into the plan as well.
BEAD, which stands for Broadband, equity, access, and Deployment Program, hopes to make high-speed internet access more attainable for Coloradans.
Since our world relies so heavily on using the internet this is a major step forward to ensure that everybody is set up for success.
Colorado Internet Service to Improve
Coloradans have had to rely on for-profit internet providers. Many of them are in situations like mine where you have one option. The quality is low and the payment is high.
With high-quality internet being more accessible for just $30 a month, I assume that for-profit service providers will need to significantly improve their services to compete with federally funded internet.
