League for Animal Welfare hosts adoption event for homeless animals – Information Important Internet

CINCINNATI (WXIX) -The League for Animal Welfare hosted a large adoption event in Batavia on Saturday, where organizers shared why it is important to help homeless animals in the Tri-State.

Volunteer Manager Carrie Leary says the League for Animal Welfare’s ability to get an animal into a home, whether through adoption or foster care, is a big win.

“There is a crisis happening in America right now, and there’s a lot of reasons for it, but we’re not 100% sure why, but a lot of dogs are being surrendered, and a lot of strays are up. Puppies are being born because spays and neuters are not happening at the rate they really should be happening,” Leary said.

Amanda Fowler emphasizes that the shelter provides all the essentials for fostering, which she wishes others knew.

“They supply the food, the medications, anything they need, the liter, and all you have to be able to do is socialize them and care for them, which at times can be challenging, but it’s a very rewarding experience,” Fowler said.

Leary says their animals are sprayed, neutered, and microchipped. They are also up to date on their vaccines.

Adoption fees are $125 for adult dogs and $350 for puppies, but those who take the puppy class automatically get a $150 refund.

“Every single one of these dogs was on the euthanasia list. We do pull from county shelters who do not have all the choices, so we try and make sure we try and pull from the euthanasia list so they don’t have to do that,” Leary said.

Those who missed the event can still get involved by adopting, volunteering, or donating to help keep these animals in a safe shelter.
